My name is Sauhe, a High School student and an active volunteer at Little Medical School – Calgary since September 2019.

I have always been intrigued by the complexity of the STEM areas and immediately when I stumbled upon the volunteer opportunity, I felt as though it would fit perfectly with my interests and my future dream career.

My strong areas belong mainly in the STEM field and I’ve always loved teaching; however, I have not had many opportunities in teaching in the past. I have discovered the joy in little amounts through teaching my Korean cousins English and volunteering in smaller classes in academies. Little Medical School – Calgary has given me the most valuable chance to expose myself in both the educational and medical fields.

I have been an avid volunteer in other organizations as well including veterinary clinics, law firms, senior homes, and small Korean events, but I feel that the volunteer experience opportunity I had with Little Medical School has given me a very valuable experience in working with children and teaching them medical concepts in a fun and interactive way. This has not only taught me how to work well with children, but also about many biological concepts! It was so great that this organization is offering such informative programs to widen the curiosity and limitless options of the future generation. I am amazed how little kids can easily comprehend medical concepts even at a young age.

Not only am I making use of my time to help the instructors facilitate the activities but the experience has helped me more in increasing my self-confidence in my communication skills.

Volunteering at Little Medical School – Calgary has provided me with renewed creativity, motivation, and vision that can carry over into my personal and future career in life.
