Things to do with your kids on Halloween in Ottawa

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are celebrating the Holidays in an untraditional way. Halloween this year is also different. With COVID-19 cases on the rise, and the recommendation from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit and the Medical Officer of Health Dr. Vera Etches not to trick-or-treating this year, we prepared a list of things to do with your kids on Halloween in Ottawa this year.

Little Medical School

Medical-themed STEM-based learning of ninety minutes virtual event. The event is happening on October 31st. It features fun activities and interactive experiments and crafts including making slime and casting bones. Students will receive a kit that will include the items needed for the experiments and crafts. Click here for more details.  Age 7+ years.

Family events – Faculty of Engineering | University of Ottawa

Farm Fun

Saunders Farm- Frightfest Night

Enjoy a tour of the Coven, the Haunted Hayride and The Shambles- a 1-hour experience. Many dates are available until November 1st. Adequate for kids 10 years old and older. Click here for more details.

Saunders Farm-Haunting season

Enjoy outdoor open-air attractions, including a Halloween puppet show, a parade, 4 Hedge Mazes and a spooky open-air trail.  It’s a 2 hours experience for kids of all ages. Many dates are available until November 1st. Click here for more details.

Proulx Farm

Enjoy outdoor Open-air attractions, including mazes, a wagon ride, see the animals, play on the structures and pumpkin picking. Many dates are available for all ages. Click here for more details.

Acres of Terror

Spooky at night and kids friendly during day time, Cannamore Orchards presents 4 attractions: The Spooky Wagon Ride, House of Terror, Spooky Village and Fog Maze. Many dates are available until October 31st. Click here for more details.

The Log Farm

Enjoy outdoor at the farm, see, touch and feed the animals, play on the structures and benefit from a family walk in the wood. The farm is also hosting a 90 min Halloween costume party, throughout the days on October 30 and 31. Click here for more details.

Pumpkinferno

In Upper Canada Village, Take a tour through this spectacular outdoor art exhibit of over 7,000 handcrafted pumpkins all lit at night along a kilometre long path in a picturesque 19th-century backdrop. They are open till the end of October, for kids of all ages. Click here for more details.


Haunted Experiences

The Haunted Walk 

Walks, tours and stories of ghosts and hunted places. Many dates are available until November 1st. A virtual experience is also available this year.  Adequate for older kids 12 years old and up. Click here for more details.

Toddler’s Halloween Hunt

A Halloween day for the whole family. Kids and adults can come dressed up in their costumes and hunt for treats throughout the museum. It is a one-day event. Click here for more details.

Stittsville Haunted Heritage Tours 2020

Mysteries, apparitions, tales, legends, folklore and a scavenger hunt and prices. Many dates are available for this 90 min tour every Friday and Saturday until Nov 7. Click here for more details.

Halloween Hijinks

At the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum, a family-friendly outdoor event. The event run over 2 days, October 24 and 25, 2020. put on your costumes and get ready for a spooky adventure surrounded by Dracula, monsters like Frankenstein and more. Click here for more details.

Deadwood Haunted Drive

Get scared at the comfort of your vehicle in Wesley Clover Parks, Park your vehicle in every station to see a horror set from live performing actors. Adequate for kids 13 years old and up. Click here for more information.

Indoor Party

Sparty’s Safe and Not So Scary Halloween Party

The Ottawa Senators Hockey Club is hosting a free indoor, socially distant party on October 31st. A special trick or treat event at their home arena, the Canadian Tire Centre. Click here for more details.
